Samjana- A classic at it's Original Best

Ready Khai Hase ko..... This is a line i remember when i remember 'Samjana', A classic Of all time. Come let's get into this classic once again.

In late 40s of the Nepali filmdom "Samjana" was released. This Sambu Pradhan film went on to become a blockbuster super hit and is one of Nepali cinema's best loved popular entertainers of the 2040s. "Samjana" as it came to be called , brought together three heavyweight actors of the 40s who were at the top of their fame; Bhuwan K.C, Murlidhar, and the beautiful Tripti Nadkar.

Bhuwan K.C was then a higly popular romnatic hero with films like 'Kusumerumal'staring Bhuwan and Tripti), & 'Saino' (staring Bhuwan and Tripti) and too add the magic Tripti Nadkar was romanicing her same screen hero once more with this film. And with the success of this film the Bhuwan-Tripti triology of Love and romance ended here, leaving menalchony at their fans heart.

The film is about a young Tea state manager (Bhuwan K.c) romancing a lady worker (Tripti),who does picking up the teas for the same tea state.

Destiny in the course of  the film brings these two into proximity with each other . Their closeness bloosms and finally they elope with a happy marrige aside. But soon this happiness faces a boredom with the revelation that Tripti is dyeing of a cancer, leaving her Infant daughter as her last memoir to her Hero. By the end of the film, it turns into a tear jerker . I was crying my eys when the hero starts an isolation, when Tripti says ' Cha vane punar janam rahana pau timi sangai...adhuro sapna hamro garna pau pura timi sangai'. Oh what a moving tale, what a moving performances. "Samjana" is a classic example of the love tragedy . 'Samjana' is to 40S' what 'MERO EUTA SAATHI CHA' is today.

The film takes a little over two and a half hours, with lots of romance, drama, and four or five gratuitous songs. The film is classified as a Romnatic Tragedy. Suraj Shankar a film college graduate said of 'Samjana', [It has] "moments of inspired lunacy.." and was a "multi-romantic spectacle" . In the end 'Samjana' is one of the most satisfying and entertaining Nepali films ever made.

'Samjana' is a thanksful effort from across the border. It's a cross-polinated by the darjeelings and Sikkimis Gurkhali teams ,as Sambhu Pradhan (Director,Editor), Nutan Pradhan (Writer), Ranjeet Gaumer (Musician), Kusum Gajmer(Lyricist)and the prominent two character Tripti and Muralidhar, were all from Purano Nepal (Tista).

There is great acting in 'Samjana' by the top stars of 40s Nepali filmdom. Bhuwan K.c reveals his incredible romantic parameter and his sad moments with 'K Soche Maile.....'song is one of the all time high points of Nepali film. Tripti Nadkar acts with masterful tragic timing and her scenes with Bhuwan K.C show why she earned this huge name and fame - a legacy till date . No heroine looks as sexy as her even in Dhaka's Dhoti Choli .Muralidhar plays a dunkard brother to Triptiman and when he busts out as the ragtag 'one man dirty brother and in laws' for the films preceeding hour which is just an incredible joy.

Music was the backbone of this film with numbers like 'Ukali ma agi agi, 'Gairo Gairo Sagar Jastai', 'pirati Aafai Hudo Raicha', 'Dui paate Suiro', and a sad number of all time 'K Soche Maile'. Cinematography was top notch by the skillfull craft of Binod Pradhan. The film was entirely shot in the beautiful locales of Darjeeling and Mumbai. Edited and Directed by SAMBHU PRADHAN himself, this is a master piece.
